The Mill Duty Deepfield Copper Electromagnet (MDC) is designed for handling especially abrasive materials, scrap, and mill products. It has a heavier, more robust structure than standard magnets, which makes it more resistant to wear and tear. The copper conductor used in the magnet’s windings provide the MDC with ample power for intensive mill operations and long duty cycles. The MDC can be adapted to multiple applications, such as moving scrap as well as billets or slabs, and can be used singly or rigged to work in tandem with multiple magnets on a spreader beam.

CDA Specifications

Lifting capacities are based on tests performed under optimum conditions. Variables in the materials being handled and/or in the magnet system can affect lifting performance. Performance may vary depending on conditions.

The MDC Electromagnet in the MLTUS M Series is used in:

  • Heavy-duty applications
  • Abrasive scrap handling
  • Steel product, slabs, and billets
  • Foundries
  • Slag processing
  • Barge loading and unloading
  • 230 VDC (optional)
  • Copper-wound coils
  • Fabricated steel construction
  • Water-resistant, double welded terminal box design
  • Class H insulation
  • Conventional triple leg chain
  • Hard surface face on outer and center poles (optional)
  • 75% duty cycle
  • 1-year limited warranty
  • Hot service design available

Note: The application’s magnet system must be compatible with the magnet being used. Incompatibility can cause damages to the magnet to the point of failure.
